If at first you don't succeed, try again.
Addow tried to buy the presidency of Somalia in Arta,
Djibouti in the year 2000.
He failed: his Habar Gidir Klansman, Ina Salad Boy, beat him
to it.
Addow aspires to the presidency of Somalia (1) because he
believes he is most qualified (2) because he is Sa'ad Habar
Gidir (3) because he is Nin Belaaya: A man of disaster who
can buy, bully & bulldoze his way into Villa
Somalia.
Addow and his Sa'ad agnates are now furiously campaigning to
make sure that this time round Addow succeed.
So it is fair, relevant, timely and topical for every
thinking Somali to ask, Who is this Addow who wants to become
President of Somalia at this crucial time of our national
life?
The first time I paid any attention to Addow is when he
threw his own brother, Ibrahim, out of his
ambassador's residence because Ibrahim who was then studying
at the American University in Washington, D. C. wrote a letter
to a magazine mildly critical of Afwayne and his Darod MOD
regime.
Addow was so committed, so loyal to Afwayne &
Afwaynissimo that in order to prove his love, his loyalty to
the Marehan tyrant that he had told his own brother, Ibrahim,
to quit his sight & get lost.
The second time Addow grabbed my attention is when Mamma
Qadeejo, the senior wife of Afwayne, came to
Washington, D. C. to go on some serious shopping spree. Addow
helpfully suggested that his daughter show her around.
Upon laying eyes on the daughter for the first time, Mamma
Qadeejo exclaimed:
"What a gorgeous nubile Italian alabaster white
daughter you have!
I am buying her for my son!
A perfect match for my son!
As of this moment she is his betrothed!
I decided it!
And I won't brook any opposition!
Diplomatic or otherwise!"
"It is a match made in heaven!" was Addow's
response committing his young innocent daughter to a
marriage from hell with a chronic alcoholic who enjoyed
beating the hell out of her whenever he believed she was putting
on some high Hawiye Habar Gidir airs. This is not shocking
considering the fact that Addow belongs to the old patriarchal
Somali school of "Am godka, ama guriga" (either in a
hole in the ground or holed up in a house) as far as daughters
were concerned. As far as he was concerned, this was a
godsend, a great opportunity, a great career move, the best
way to solidify his relationship with the kleptocracy of
Gool Wadow Siyaad!
The third time Addow intruded upon our attention was last
year in Mog when he summoned all the Mudulood elders
soliciting their support because he was bent on becoming the
next President of Somalia. One of the elders showed him a
piece of paper with Addow's signature and asked him
either to confirm or deny that it was his signature. Addow
solemnly swore that it was indeed his own very signature
without verifying what was written on the rest of the paper!
At the top of the paper was written a Habar Gidir
declaration of war on Ali Mahdi & his government simply
because Ali Mahdi is an Abgal and an Abgal has no business of
leading the Somali nation as long as there is one habarkintr
Il-jex jerk left alive! That is how Addow & his
habarkinter reason!
The Mudulood elder looked him in the eye, saying, "and
you have the gall to summon us Mudulood elders here to
support you!"
The fourth time Addow grabbed our attention is when Peter
Bridges (the American Ambassador to Afwayneland) published his
book, entitled, Safirka.
Here is the picture that emerges of Addow & his
larcenous family:
"I have mentioned earlier Abdillahi Ahmed Addou, who
was minister of the presidency for much of my tour in
Mogadishu and who, as such, helped me as best he could in my
dealings with the president. Addou had served earlier for ten
years as Somali ambassador in Washington, and he returned
there as ambassador while I was still in Mogadishu. During his
first tour in Washington, his purchase of a house on Foxhall
Road for his daughter had reportedly been the second-largest
real-estate sale in the District of Columbia that year. There
was no proof of wrongdoing, but the ambassador had done well
for a nomad's son on a Somali official salary. Addou's elegant
and attractive wife, Asha, also owned a string of villas in
Mogadishu, and she built two large ones near the compound of
our office of Military Cooperation. She tried very hard to get
me to rent one for our embassy. She wanted, she said, six
thousand dollars a month for either of them, payable in
dollars not shillings, please(which would be in contravention
of Somali currency regulations). I told her we did not need
any large, new villas. Then I heard that she was threatening
to rent them to the Libyan embassy; she commented to an
American that no doubt the Libyans would find it advantageous
to locate near our military compound. That was pure blackmail.
I told her husband that if she rented those villas to the
Libyans, the Somali government would soon be sorry. In the
end, after I had left Mogadishu, she rented one villa to
Conoco's new resident manager, Raymond Marchand, a fearless
Frenchman who continued to live there, protected by a company
of private guards, even after our embassy was evacuated in the
chaos of 1991."
Donkey years ago, an Abgal poet, (I believe it was one
called Farah Sayfay) warned Somalis & Somalia thus:"From
the way you walk; from the way you talk; I can tell one day
soon you will be ruled; you will be ruined by
thieves!"
So why should you & I be surprised that a
Moral Midget, a Moral Coward, a Prince of thieves & a
Kalab of Afwayne's Kleptocracy like Addow deems
himself worthy of the highest office in our country?
We are exactly where we have put ourselves!
From our sick Somali eyes he reads that he dare get away
with it! That he dare beat us with our own stick:
Addow need not go out & fetch his own stick for
himself!
We have made our Somali bed; now we must lie in it with
crazy thieving cowards & conmen like Addow!
